St. Luke's Hosts Room in the Inn
Room in the Inn is an emergency shelter program brought to Jackson by Area Relief Ministries (ARM) in 2007. ARM partners with local churches to feed and shelter homeless men in Jackson.
The guests arrive at the church at 6:00 p.m. They bring cots and bedding supplied by ARM. We serve them a hot meal and we eat and visit with them. When dinner is over the guests typically watch a movie. We have two volunteers that spend the night. Several of our volunteers have enjoyed the movie with our guests before leaving. Some volunteers clean up the kitchen. Early in the morning the overnight volunteers give the men breakfast (which has been prepared in advance) and a sack lunch (also prepared in advance) and take them back to ARM to deliver their bedding.
If you feel called to participate in this ministry you can do anything: prepare food, serve food, come and eat and visit with our guests, come watch the movie with us, come in for clean-up, prepare sack lunches, spend the night, or provide a breakfast that can be served in the morning.
If you have questions, please see Nancy Caterina at church or call 731-415-3857.
