Special
Events…
New Foyer
Groups Begin in August.
Foyer groups are an easy and enjoyable way for parishioners to get to know
one another – especially newcomers and folks who go to different services –
in an informal social setting. Once each month, over a four month period,
group members meet at one another’s home or at a restaurant for a simple
dinner, to get to know each other. Each time groups are reassigned to meet
new people. The new groups are listed on the bulletin board by the parish
office.
There will be a backyard
fun afternoon for the church children
who are elementary school ages on August 8th from 4 – 6 p.m. at
the home of Archie and Tanya Wright, 917 Grayson Lane. There will be an
inflatable water slide and various water toys, so parents should bring their
children’s swim suits! There will be light snacks, drinks and popsicles
provided for the parents and children. This should be a fun party to help
ring-in the new school year so please mark your calendar and make plans to
attend!
The 2010 Altar Flower,
Altar Supply and Altar Candle sign up sheets are posted. Please sign up on the
bulletin board by the elevator for your Sunday to provide altar flowers.
These are filled on a first come, first serve basis so if you have a date
that has special meaning to you, sign up early!! We do have some openings in
August, September and October on the calendar!

Additional office volunteers will be needed to
help while some of the regular volunteers are out and during vacation times.
Staff vacation time is scheduled for August 16 – 23. We will need volunteers
for both mornings and afternoons for those 6 days. While most mornings are
covered, some are not and we need someone for every afternoon. Please
contact the parish office at 424-0556 or
stlukes@aeneas.net or you can sign up on the bulletin board for a time
you are available. Thanks for your continued support.
Haiti Relief – Immediate relief for search and rescue can be made
through Episcopal Relief and Development at
www.er-d.org. Saint Luke’s will be undertaking a program to support the
reconstruction of an Episcopal congregation in Haiti. If you would like to
contribute to Saint Luke’s fund for Haiti reconstruction, you may write a
check and place “Haiti” in the memo line.
