Come to the Feast of Fire: Pentecost Sunday, May 24
Fifty days after Easter, the Church celebrates one of its most ancient and joyful feasts: Pentecost. It was on this day, as recounted in the second chapter of Acts, that the Holy Spirit descended on the gathered disciples like rushing wind and tongues of flame — and the Church was born. What had been a small, frightened band of followers was transformed into a community of bold witnesses, sent out into the world with purpose, power, and love. Pentecost is sometimes called the birthday of the Church, and like any good birthday, it is meant to be celebrated.
We would love for you to join us at St. Luke's on Sunday, May 24, as we mark this great feast together.

Wear Red. The color of Pentecost is red — for the fire of the Spirit, for the courage of the first disciples, for the warmth of a God who does not remain distant but comes close. Deck yourself out in red from head to toe, or simply add a red scarf or tie. However you wear it, come ready to celebrate.
Release the Ladybugs. Following both services, we will release red ladybugs on the grounds of St. Luke's — a small, living sign of something the Spirit has always called us to do: go out. Into our neighborhood, our city, our daily lives, carrying with us the goodness and love of God. May these little creatures scatter in every direction and remind us that we, too, are sent.
Bring a Little Something. It's a birthday party, after all — so we're inviting everyone to bring a small dish to share at coffee hour. It doesn't need to be fancy; a plate of cookies, a fruit salad, a family favorite appetizer. Come ready to celebrate, eat, and enjoy one another's company.
All are welcome. Bring your family, bring a friend, bring someone who has never set foot in a church before. The Spirit has a way of surprising us.
We gather at our regular Sunday service times. See you there — in red.
